TIPS FOR HEALTHY LIFE

TIPS FOR EVERY ONE
Stress
Water is needed for every physiological process, thought and activity. Increased levels of stress increase the need to drink more water.

If you are under a lot of stress avoid sugar, stimulants and processed fast food. These foods might be quick, but they lack the essential building blocks for health.

Take slow, deep, regular breaths throughout the day to assist in coping with stressful situations more easily.

Breathing

Consciously following your breath is the simplest and often most powerful form of breath work because it puts your body and mind in harmony. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to your breathing.

For about five minutes a day, sit or lie with your spine straight, close your eyes, and focus your attention on your breathing. You will find that your mind and body will relax.

Slow, deep, quiet, regular breathing is more efficient, delivers more oxygen to your cells and balances the nervous system.

When your are stopped at a red light, waiting in a supermarket line or have a free moment, practice taking a series of breaths that are slower, deeper, quieter and more regular.

Learning how to breathe more effectively is one of the most profound and easiest ways to improve your overall health and quality of life.

Abdominal breathing ensures optimal use of your respiratory system and aids in improving the efficiency of your breathing.

Respiration is deepened by actively exhaling more air, not by inhaling more air. Pushing more air out of your lungs automatically triggers your lungs to take more in.

General Health Tips

Volunteering for your community
Become a volunteer by organizing cleanups or by taking a walk and picking up litter. Encourage by example by getting everyone you know involved with keeping your town clean. Teach your children to take care of the environment. Buy reusable products and of course reduce, reuse and recycle all that you can. By taking care of the environment you'll be taking care of your health as well!

To relieve sore, tight, tense or painful muscles
Soak in a hot bath with a 2 kg bag of Epsom salts from a minimum of twenty minutes. This releases the build up of lactic acid and helps the muscles relax and repair. During your bath drink water and place a cold towel around your neck.

To reduce swelling, bruising or bleeding
Apply an ice pack with compression and elevation.
